Summer Opera Course

HOC offered its first course for young vocal artists, June 5-11, 2016 at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts. A select number of vocalists were chosen by audition for an intensive study of 17th-century repertoire with renowned counter tenor and stage director Drew Minter. The daily schedule included vocal coaching, acting and movement techniques, Italian language coaching, and opera rehearsals culminating in a public performance of Claudio Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (abridged). Additional faculty included HOC Artistic Director Craig Trompeter, Grammy nominee harpsichordist Jory Vinikour, and Italian language expert Alessandra Visconti.
