Cash Reserve Match Challenge

Our most important fundraising match challenge to date.
We are looking ahead with purpose. For more than fifteen years, Haymarket has carved out a distinctive place in Chicago’s cultural landscape, gaining momentum by presenting ambitious artistic work on an annual budget that has rarely exceeded $500,000. As we look to our next chapter, we are taking deliberate steps to strengthen our financial foundation so that we may continue to bring you “finely played, carefully sung, lovingly detailed period performance,” as described by The New York Times.
For a growing organization to be sustainable, a cash reserve is essential. A cash reserve allows an organization to respond to the unexpected, invest confidently in new productions, and plan boldly without placing undue risk on annual operations, ensuring that artistic excellence is matched by financial resilience.
Help us raise $100,000 by July 1! Thanks to a $25,000 cash reserve challenge grant from the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, and a generous $25,000 matching gift from Gregory O’Leary and Patricia Kenney, we have a rare opportunity to build our own cash reserve. Every dollar raised in new and increased donations will be matched dollarfor-dollar, up to $50,000.
Double your impact with a generous tax-deductible donation before the match challenge deadline on July 1, 2026. Donate online, through stock contribution, or by check.
