2026 Season
Tickets on sale January 12, 2026
Haymarket Opera Company is thrilled to present its 2026 season, promising more “creatively staged, beautifully sung, and superbly played performances” (Opera News). As Hannah Edgar writes in the Chicago Tribune, “It seems no operatic mountain is too high for Haymarket Opera.”
Our season begins on March 13th with the release of Haymarket’s second album recording, Leonardo Vinci’s Artaserse. From the candlelit theaters of 1730 to Spotify today, this new recording with Chicago’s GRAMMY® Award-winning label Cedille Records features the "spectacular" (Opera Magazine) cast and orchestra from our acclaimed 2025 stage production. The recording will be released on March 13th and available for purchase online or streaming on all major music platforms.
On March 27th, we open our season with the U.S. premiere of Johann Adolf Hasse’s rarely performed 1726 serenata La Semele, marking its 300th anniversary. Don’t miss our annual Early Opera Cabaret on April 30th, featuring dinner, drinks, and music at the elegant Arts Club of Chicago. The season continues on June 21st with a return to French Baroque opulence when we present the Chicago premiere of Marc-Antoine Charpentier’s 1688 David et Jonathas. The season culminates in September with a new, fully staged co-production of Monteverdi’s 1607 theatrical masterpiece L’Orfeo, with performances running September 24-27, 2026.
Tickets go on sale January 12, 2026. Purchase tickets and experience a season of extraordinary artistry, rare repertoire, and unforgettable performances, presented with Haymarket’s signature historical insight and theatricality. As the Chicago Tribune affirms: “Haymarket's heyday continues.”
